Prompting
If you've used ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, or Grok, you already know the rule: the quality of your prompt determines the quality of the answer. Chat responds best to detail and precision — tell it what you want, what to use, and what to avoid.
Good vs. weak prompts — the sharper your instruction, the sharper the result.
- Do: Create a new scope of work for Security Access. Build the items and quantities from sources in the drawings and specifications. Make sure no other scopes overlap with this new one.
- Don't: Don't forget Security Access scope.
- Do: Consolidate all line items in the Plumbing scope into high-level, bid-ready items. Don't be overly detailed, but don't skip any major responsibility of the plumbing contractor.
- Don't: Make the plumbing items less detailed.
A few habits that help:
- Be specific about the target — name the trade, sheet, or section, or right-click it and choose Ask Chat.
- Say where the answer should come from — "from the drawings and specs," "from the schedule on sheet M5.1."
- Ask for sources — "cite the pages you used" — so you can verify quickly.
